A historic photo studio established in Kyoto over 50 years ago by a group of highly skilled creators.
Studio KOZO is a commercial studio founded in 1966 by photographer Kozo Kimura. Since then, it has led the photography industry in Kyoto, keeping pace with Japan's period of rapid economic growth. Now, veteran photographers with ties to Kozo Kimura have come together at Studio KOZO, which has a Showa-era atmosphere, to launch Team Studio KOZO, aiming to create artistic and innovative photographic expressions.
Kozo Kimura
Born in Kyoto City in 1939.
He has produced numerous works that pursue "inner beauty" with the theme of talking to his subjects, and is remembered as one of Kyoto's leading photographers.
Additionally, his activities in various organizations, such as Kyoto Tanpei, Nikakai Photography Club, and the Japan Professional Photographers Society, have made a significant contribution to the development of the current photography world.
Died in 2020.
